Student Learning Partners

**The position below is open to current students of Ulster University who are currently studying on one of our Northern Ireland campuses**

Digital Services are seeking to recruit a professional team of Learning Partners who will support and assist teaching staff when working with new teaching methods and emerging technologies in classroom environments. The role holders will need to be early adopters of technology, IT proficient, confident problem solvers, team players and interested in learning and teaching technologies.
Applicants must be currently enrolled on a course at the University and have strong knowledge of common IT applications. They must also have experience of successful troubleshooting and resolution of simple hardware and operating system problems on desktop, portable and AV/Media devices. Appropriate training will be provided.

Candidates will be recruited on a casual basis subject to a rota system.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Learning Partner
Location: Belfast Campus
Reports to: Teaching Technologies Officer
Responsible to: Head of Customer Service and Support

Job Purpose: The post holder is jointly responsible for supporting our Academic staff when introducing and using new teaching methods and emerging technologies in classroom environments. They will require a good knowledge of IT systems and an understanding of the current computing technologies and platforms used throughout the University.

Main Responsibilities
1. Guiding teaching staff in the use of new classroom technologies and assist in resolving any basic queries
2. Promote new creative teaching methods
3. Provide just-in-time support and assistance in class when required
4. Assist with any event and conference support to staff and external stakeholders
5. Highlight any incidents or faults accordingly, in particular any affecting many customers, escalating appropriately for swift resolution
6. Assist with service promotional activities to ensure service benefits are realised by all users, e.g., pop up events.
7. Plan and prioritise work to ensure that deadlines and targets are met.
