We’re looking for creative and diverse students to share real stories about life at Ulster University. You can contribute through blogs, videos, or both, depending on your interests and strengths. You’ll help showcase events, student experiences, and what makes our campuses special - all while supporting university marketing on social media.
This is a great chance to express your creativity, build your portfolio, connect with other students, and gain valuable digital and storytelling skills for any career.
This role is paid at £13.10 per hour, with blog articles and reels paid at a rate equivalent to 3 hours' work. Any additional time required will be subject to prior agreement. There is an upper limit of 20 hours per week.

- Curiosity - You’re eager to explore and highlight the diverse aspects of university life, from events and services to student stories.
- Passion - You’re enthusiastic about storytelling, media, and creating content that supports and inspires your peers.
- Technical Skills – Show you are confident and creative in using social media, including filming and editing reels.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Create Engaging Content – Produce authentic, student-focused content (e.g. videos and blogs) that showcases life at Ulster University.
- Support Campaigns and Events – Capture and promote campus events, student services, and university initiatives through storytelling.
- Share Student Perspectives – Contribute to the development of assets such as student testimonials, interviews, and day-in-the-life content.
- Promote Campus Life – Highlight key areas of the campus, services, and opportunities to help students feel informed and connected.

Collaborate with Staff – Work with university teams to ensure content aligns with Ulster’s brand and messaging goals.
Training provided:
As a Student Content Creator, you will receive tailored training to equip you with the skills needed to produce high-quality, engaging content. This includes:
- Branding and Messaging – Training on Ulster University’s brand guidelines and key messaging to ensure all content aligns with the university’s values and voice.
- Content Creation Tools – Instruction on using digital tools for video editing, photography, graphic design, and blogging platforms.
- Best Practices – Guidance on effective social media strategies, audience engagement, and platform-specific content creation.
- Storytelling and Communication – Workshops on crafting compelling stories that authentically represent student life and experiences.
- Digital Accessibility and Inclusion – Training on creating inclusive content that is accessible to all members of the university community.
Alongside formal training, you’ll also have opportunities to connect and collaborate with other Student Content Creators through networking events and peer feedback sessions, helping you grow both personally and professionally.

It can be about anything - whether it’s a “day in the life” vlog, a “get to know me” video, travel vlog, or any personal project you’re proud of. - A blog style article – This can be a piece about yourself, life at Ulster or a subject close to your heart. The article needs to be written by you without the aid of AI.
- Students can contribute through blogs, videos or both, depending on their interests and strengths.
- For video/digital roles: confident appearing on camera and speaking clearly. Comfortable creating digital content (videos, reels, blogs, social media posts) and demonstrate technical skills such as content editing to produce polished, engaging content.
- For written content roles: excellent written communication and storytelling skills.
- Confident in approaching others for input into videos/articles.
Criteria for Student Content Creator
- Currently a student at Ulster University.
- Strong communication skills:
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Resilient with the ability to take on-board constructive feedback to update submitted work when required.
Experience:
- No specific prior professional experience required, but applicants should be able to provide:
- A sample video or written piece of work demonstrating creativity, storytelling, and camera presence (where applicable).
